RE: New Project Prototype

iPad compatibility? Awesome idea...isn't the park in development with one too? AWESOME!!!!

RE: New Project Prototype

It's being built with universal features but will initially be released for iPhone/iPod Touch.

Obviously this is extremely early stages. All of this was done tonight.

Suggestions are very welcome, no suggestion is too crazy (might not make it to the app, but all ideas are good).

Oh, and of course it will be free.

Good work. I am looking forward to seeing the final format.

RE: New Project Prototype

Here is my mock-up for an alternative user interface for the BGWFans app. It's fully retina display compatible and for now at least, is portrait only. Remember, this is only a concept.

1st Tab: Latest
http://img.ly/system/uploads/000/687/853/original_1st_Tab_Latest_.png
The "Latest" tab would take the latest tweets from @BuschGardensVA, @BGWFans, and @BGVATips. It's a simple list that would refresh automatically ever 3 minuets or so. Any links in the tweets that are clicked would open in the in-app browser (see bottom).

2nd Tab: News
http://img.ly/system/uploads/000/687/871/original_2nd_Tab_News_.png
The "News" tab simply shows the mobile version of the BGWFans.com website with backward and forward navigation buttons in the bottom right hand corner.

3rd Tab: Forum
http://img.ly/system/uploads/000/687/880/original_3rd_Tab_Forum_.png
The "Forum" tab is basically the same as the "News" tab except it shows the mobile version of the BGWFans Forums.

4th Tab: Park Info
http://img.ly/system/uploads/000/687/886/original_4th_Tab_Park_Info_.png
The final tab, "Park Info" is the most complex tab in the app. It contains Busch Garden's operating hours for whatever day it is, the current weather in Williamsburg, VA, and general park info. The park info links would open to the corresponding links on the Busch Gardens Williamsburg mobile site in the in-app browser (see below).

In-App Browser

This is the in-app browser that the links on the "Park Info" page and the "Latest" page will open in. It's a very simple browser with the same back and forward arrows from tabs 2 and 3.

What do you'll think?

Chris, if you want any of the resources that I used or the things I made for use in the official app, feel free to ask. I have them all.

RE: New Project Prototype

Here's a little update on the app.

RE: New Project Prototype

Hey Chris, I'd be ready for a new park map this year. Not saying it for sure, or even probable. Just think that you might want to wait 8 weeks or so before you tweak that feature. It'd just suck to do all the work on that and then have a new map screw it up. It has been a while...

RE: New Project Prototype

@Fur Dozy: Unless we're talking about different things, all he'd have to do would be to update the image...

@Chris: Looks great so far. From a UI standpoint though, vertical space should be maximized. On things like the park map I wouldn't imagine that the tab bar would have to be accessible like it would need to be in Forum browser. Other than that though, looks great. Note: Another way around the vertical space issue would be to add a full screen button to the right side of the title bar...

RE: New Project Prototype

I almost like using the mobile version on my computer better than the normal version. Of course moderating is easier with the full version, but the server return time seems much faster on the mobile version.

@swift I was talking about if he wanted to add any location function. If that is possible...

RE: New Project Prototype

Yeah, changing the park map is just changing an image pretty much, a few clicks to update it.

I'll look at ways to remove the tabbar from the view in certain areas of the app.

Moved the Park Map to it's own tab to allow for more screen space and make it quicker to access.
