When Great Adventure opened in 1974, there were three main restaurants which each had a unique look and style. The most impressive of the three in its understatement was Best of the West, the signature dining in the western themed Rootin' Tootin' Rip Roarin' area.
While Gingerbread Fancy and Yum Yum were colorful, Best of the West was impressive with the huge log structure which was striking inside an out. The huge logs were brought to the park from the Yukon Territory and are truly massive and impressive.
The three sided porch offered covered dining areas with views of the Log Flume and lake and are an ideal place to sit and eat and relax on a summer day.
A refreshed Best of the West is supposed to reopen along with the Log Flume this summer as part of Great Adventure's 50th Anniversary celebration.
