RE: BBQ and Bluegrass Festival 2015

I assume this is another BBQ event; apart from the military USO BBQ competition?

RE: BBQ and Bluegrass Festival 2015

CPFoodBlog has a great writeup on KD's BBQ & Beer event happening the 1st two weekends in August. More detail on the food being offered and the Military Chef BBQ competition, (from the 4 branches of the military), the 1st weekend only, August 1-2. Ice carving contest Saturday under the Eiffel Tower and other food stuff on Sunday.

Check it out! (2nd entry on main page). Boy, my lips are smacking! :-3

KD BBQ & Beer Details

P.S. The KD web site has been updated as well.

I'm trying to get to the park one of these weekends for a final ride on Shockwave and to try the event - I hope the brews are reasonably priced!

However, I wish the park had a nicer areas for events like this. I feel like their events would do better if they had a new pavilion area closer in proximity to the center of the park rather than on the outskirts over at Kingswood. Many guests don't even know events like this, OktoberFest, Easter Dinners, ect. occur because they are so tucked into the Kingswood area.

I'd love to see a brew festival or food truck festival at the base of the Eiffel Tower (and maybe Center Walkway) like Kings Island just had. I feel like the event(s) would do much better there! I'd be more willing to hang around in an area like that as well as the atmosphere is obviously much better. It could be done like Spring Bloom where alcohol isn't permitted beyond International Street.

I am not sure the BBQ & Beer event is going to be in the pavilion/amphitheater. The military chef competition (1st weekend only) is supposed to be under the Eiffel Tower. I thought Chef Paul stated that the vendors would be around the Country Kitchen area and along some of Center Street.

The info on the web site seems to be off as far as the event location is concerned. Course, back in June, when I was waiting at the Wayside Grill for my brisket sandwich combo, a family came up wanting to get a hamburger. The folks asked if they could get a burger here and I stated they don't serve those here anymore. They stated the 2015 map had the old Wayside menu from 2014. I pointed them to the Jukebox Diner for the hamburgers. KD might want to proof read this stuff more carefully before publishing on the web and before sending the map out for printing

Here's the full BBQ & Brew Fest press release if anyone is curious:

I've also renamed the thread to reflect the official branding for the event.

I noticed it says to head for CAG for the festivities. Hope they don't have the tiny roped off beer tasting areas like the 2014 Oktoberfest event. The spring event was a nice change, being able to walk around I-street with a beer and not be harassed. Guess I'll find out Sunday.

Yeah, I noticed they stated CAG as well. I did a little internet sleuthing a couple weeks ago. I only picked up tid-bits of information here and there. One of the craft brewers had a photo of the center walkway at KD on their Facebook site. The photo caption referred "scoping out the site" for the event. Also, I remember Chef Paul telling me he was planning to use the "Spring Bloom" food booths for the BBQ event.

Given that there will be 4 different craft brewers for each of the 2 weekends; plus, the Hard Cider brewer for both, I wonder if central walkway will become "Beer Central" for the BBQ & Brew event. Not sure what to think about where the food will be served. I'm guessing the event will be concentrated more to the west end of CAG.
