Aviaries in Germany

I vaguely remember that the two big, black steel structures that hold up the archway leading to Germany from Aquitaine once had live birds in them. Did this really happen or am I imagining things?

I suppose birds could build nests in them... they tend to do that.

I have heard of this. I don't know when they were there though.

I can confirm. Birds were in the cages. I remember them being small birds, but the actual breed- I cannot remember.

Now that I think of it, my grandmother mentioned the park having love-birds in little cages. Maybe this is what she was talking about. Also, for what it's worth, she was German as well so she knew that area very well.

Love birds sound about right. They were green and small.
