Are the dining plans worth it?

Do you really save that much as opposed to just buying out of pocket?  I was thinking about getting the deluxe one for this saturday since we'll be there all day, but am a little hesitant.

What is a snack?  Would a funnel cake be considered a snack? Do you have to get the dessert when you purchase the entree, or can we get it later?

When we went for food and wine we ate the specialty things and didn't pay much attention to the regular prices.
