Does anyone know what happened to Aquila, the golden eagle? Stopped by to see her last weekend, and not only was she not there, but the sign and all of her stumps/perches had been removed.
Sadly, I found out what happened to Aquila. She had been diagnosed with cancer, and had surgery to remove it unfortunately, the surgery did not get it all, and she had to be euthanized. Her enclosure will be removed in the next week, zoology decided not to put another animal there. Understandably, they're all a bit broken up about it. She had quite a bit of personality.
Cancer is horrible period for both animals and people but this thought just crossed my mind. Her name is literally Eagle the golden Eagle, I mean really?
Busch Dominion's latest article contains a section on the unfortunate passing away of Aquila, and pictures of the deconstruction of her former habitat. You can view these at the article link below.
