People think I'm crazy for not wanting to do water slides. Them sonsofbitches are way more dangerous than coasters.

I understand the likelyhood of injury is still so small, but the unpredictability and the uncontrolled environment make my risk management sensors go on high alert.

It's sorta true though. And water slides have less mandatory safety inspections than rollercoasters or flats.

That's not to say major parks don't do inspections above and beyond what's mandatory though..
 
So reading the article, it didn't seem to say what actually caused the injury.

Was he doing something he wasn't supposed to, did the ride or raft break, was this just a freak accident... Something else?
 
I'm guessing it's still under investigation.

It does appear to be one of those prone position racers. Those have never seemed very dangerous to me... So I dunno

Best guess I have from the picture they showed is that he caught major air somehow and had a super rough landing.
