Not sure unless some changes were made to the plans. How long did the original permit have before it expites? More pics from near Marco Polo and the Octoberfest bridge.

They appeared further back near the old Drachenfire station instead of closer to the Rhine than I thought the original spike was to be.

Dont they have to do balloon tests for fireworks?
They did when they changed location last year but it's not been an annual thing so assuming they are using the same location I can't see why they would need to redo it

You only need to do balloon tests at the highest point of the ride. Anything under the highest point is covered under the height waiver. So even if plans changed they wouldn't need to get a waiver for other parts of the ride as long as it was under the height they've already been approved for. Just see Pantheon. That was a significant redesign and has multiple places above the height limit, but it still used the original 315' height waiver granted for it.

Anyone have any idea if the height waver for the FAA requires a balloon test? That waver is currently not valid so I wonder if reapplying might explain this test.

Would this be past DF/DS station (assuming it is a new attraction)? With the location of one of the balloons and the space remaining after DS is built, it seems likely. There is will still be a lot of room left after DS, so it could also still be within the park. Also, if they redesigned the layout of DS (which I doubt they did) then I will maybe consider liking SeaWorld slightly.

First, we have to always consider that a height survey could be conducted for some non-ride purpose. In all of my years covering these balloons, I’ve always cautioned readers to keep this possibility in mind. That said, as far as I remember, each balloon we’ve reported on has ended up being related to a new attraction plan at some point down the line.
Haven't fireworks ballons been reported on? I would assume those would be higher than this but still...
