Last Thursday at San Marco either the barcode readers weren't working, or the cashier didn't know how to use it. She was literally manually entering the long pass number for the dining plan or the pass discount. People were getting pretty angry about the food getting cold. while they waited to check-out.

Ok, lemme rephrase - while I also acknowledge the PoS system needs to be setup in a way that enables quick and efficient checkout, my head was more in the space where many regular restaurants and bars have gone.

With whatever service they could go with, it'd be connected to your membership and any dining pass plans you have plus any forms of payment (or only forms of payment if you don't have either of the other things).

So whenever you're ready to order items (assuming there'd be a pickup window for this instead of buffet selection), you just pick what you want and payment is automatically handled without holding up the line.

Portion size at KD is fairly consistent….in fact the Kountry Kitchen they weight out portion size of proteins on a scale.

Frankly seems to me going cash only would be faster than any complicated ordering plan. Also, I rarely take a smart phone into a park (have only had one just over a year) for multiple reasons.

Portions at KD do vary quite a bit depending on what you're getting. But the stick of 6 shrimp sitting there along with listing 150 calories on the menu board should tell you that's not the best choice on a hungry day.

I don't know if there's any way to limit the few that really push these plans. I ran into a guy in line for lunch at KD who said he drives by all the time, sounded like even the park pass was just to be able to get the dining. If they had a limit, some might take that as a challenge, or it draws attention to how many you could get.

Forgot to mention another reason for plans: to help justify high regular prices.

I disagree, at kD and at BGW if you find a cashier that knows what they are doing it’s always faster checking out with the meal plan. It’s basically one quick barcode scan, if you pay cash or credit card you scan your pass for your discount then still have to do the CC matching or worse watch a person try to count actual money.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that... Can't go into details now, but there's a pretty good chance that a similar program is introduced soon.

Not to drag up a whole debate on the all-season dining, which is needed....but I loved it for multiple reasons....I just wanted to follow up on BGWnut from your post a few weeks ago...any details you could speak of yet or know if it may be coming back? Thank you in advance.

I do not at this time. I just know that the idea isn't dead and it seems likely it comes back, but with some changes.
