Alright, now that we generally know what the 2025 Volcano replacement is. I want to start a more formal discussion for what's after that. I guess I'll ask the group 3 questions.
1. What roller coaster model do you think Kings Dominion needs in the scope of its ride lineup? This does not need to be limited to one but if you type your wishlist at Christmas to Santa with little context it doesn't add much to the discussion.
2. What non roller coaster attraction do you think Kings Dominion needs in the scope of its ride lineup? Dark ride, water ride, flats, shows, kids areas, water park shit, go for it.
3. What attraction do you think Cedar Six Fair Flags will add after the wing coaster realistically based on precedent with the chain and what they realistically would like to invest in?
Here's my take:
1. I suspect the Wing coaster will be similar in height to Dominator or shorter, which brings me to be a total thoosie to say that the park needs another "large" coaster in the 200+ "hyper" range. Any sort of Hyper sized coaster should fit that bill I would prefer the ride involve a lift hill but wouldn't be opposed to another launch coaster. I also personally would REALLY love to see a Gerstlauer Infinity in CAG where the old arcade building is near Racer 75. That with a KCL light package would look excellent in that area and add so much kinetic energy to CAG. In addition a GG or GCI wooden coaster can go wherever it makes sense to add one. KD just feels to me like it should have a top tier modern wooden coaster. I also would like them to add some sort of modern Vekoma family coaster to Planet Snoopy, I think personally Peanuts Showplace should be axed and ride similar to the family boomerang at Kings Island should be able to slot in that area. They could even split Planet Snoopy with a Camp Snoopy section like Kings Island. it's such a large sprawling section they could certainly go that route to freshen it up.
2. The park currently has a dark ride, I do not think they particularly "need" to add one, but I wouldn't be upset if they added one by any means especially if well done. I also weirdly feel satisfied by the two water rides in Old Virginia, that or I don't feel like chute the chutes are a necessity if you have a good log flume and rapids. Again wouldn't be upset if we got a modern water ride but I do not feel like that's the direction corporate wants to go currently. If we get any flats, an Air Race would be my favorite from Zamperla especially if it was one of the rising versions. I don't care about Nebulaz though I won't be remotely shocked if one of those things pops up in Jungle X eventually, they DO look very cool. I tend to ignore flats generally when I travel for parks unless they are very rare like Kangaroo and we already have a (blah) frisbee, Drop Tower, and StarFlyer/WindSeeker. I DO think Jungle X needs a flat package badly because I mean, again once the Wing opens, the section consists of 7 roller coasters and a Scrambler........yup lil Scrambler there. Can't wait to ride it with the Wing soaring overhead honestly.
In the water park, I mean a Water Coaster and more cool tube slides, I'd like to see a new Lazy River in the back section. In an ideal world they'd do that and then axe the front section of the water park entirely and convert that to a new section of the dry park. That is most likely a pipe dream though.
3. Hmm......I can see a Vekoma Family Boomerang especially if the Kings Island ride is a major success. The only B&M models which Cedar Fair seems to largely be taking over most of corporate with the merger so I would expect them to be more likely than most currently based on precedent, would be the Hyper and Surf (I can't see Cedar Fair ever installing a flyer personally). I can see some Zamperla flats popping up at some point in the park. It's really tough to say with the merger making this part of things a bit tougher to think far ahead. I could see a GCI or Gravity Group wood coaster popping up eventually as well but I'd say the odds of that are like 15-20%. It's interesting to think KD will have 14 operating roller coasters in 2025 and the number of parks in the world with more.............well it's not very high so we will see.
