50th Anniversary

This is basically a thread for what y’all think KD will do for their 50th anniversary. For me I think they’ll have a parade/street party like KI/CP, a firework show, some other shows, an overhaul of Boo Blasters, a new flat or two, and the wing coaster

If they set up some sort of drone show like Kings Island’s it would look incredible and bring a lot of charm to the end of the night. But I doubt it.

For the 50th, I’d really like to see Old Virginia get some love. Even just some new signage and decorations would be great. They’ve done a good job sprucing it up in the past few years, but since Old Virginia is the park’s only area outside of International Street to keep its same name and theme since opening day, a few new touches here and there would be a great way to celebrate the park’s original charm.

That said, it’s looking like Jungle X Phase II will be the focus of the 50th — which I’m fine with. The unrenovated parts of Jungle X need help more than Old VA does, and that area and its jungle theming have a strong tie to the park’s history too.

What I would do:

• Clean up the parking lot (it had seen better days when I was last there)
• Refresh parking tolls and main gate
• Replace blacktop in Old VA with pavers
• Repaint Racer 75 in its original colors
• Refresh arcade, Sweet Tooth/Subway building, and Victoria's facade
• Finish Jungle X-Pedition
• Add restroom next to Flight of Fear

The whole track used to have red track rails and blue railings. The end of the station till the lift hill was repainted in that color for KD40, but that was it. The top of the lift and first drop should still be repainted white to match the rest of the coaster.

Old Virginia needs something, there's little reason to be over there, just the water rides and Grizzly. Turnpike is fine, i guess, but i almost never see either show building or the go-karts in use. I think if they get around to overhauling that area, we'll see something done with Dogwood Grill, but I don't expect anything until they do that.

I guess I don't expect that for the 50th, though.

I'd say probably finish off Jungle-X, wing coaster. Medium chance of BLSC re-theme.
Repaint Racer, since it'll be it's 50th, too.
Probably a special show/parade...

That's probably it. Maybe a new restaurant in Taco Shack/Mac Bowl space..... although the area already has plenty of restaurants, maybe a dessert spot, instead. Ice Cream?
