Would like to point out that I’ve yet to have a bad experience tonight. I did 21 which is basically as advertised by Parkfans. I’ve went through Site X. And have done Cornstalkers. Haven’t seen anything super out of the ordinary (yet). Busy crowd but everybody that I’ve come across have been cool
what was 21 about??

We think it is meant to be 21 nightmares, but some of it made no sense. Like the disco ball room. It could be a nostalgia house; it is impossible to tell.

what is 21

Yeah, I'm sorry, but ignoring the INCREDIBLY high actor quality, this house sucks. There's so little to work with here. Design feels so dramatically inferior to what we've come to expect from Kings Dominion lately.

It honestly felt like a BGW house to me. Lots of flat, painted, 2D walls with stuff hanging on them, lots of right angles and random hallways, a complete lack of any narrative, entirely dead segments, etc.

The cast was great and based on that alone 21 would outrank a number of this year's BGW houses. That said, this is very much the ugly duckling of KD's houses. Really, really hope it's not finished.

As for theme, I currently subscribe to the idea that it's a throwback house featuring rooms inspired by previous Haunt houses. I don't think there are 21 houses represented, so I think it's likely a reference to how long the event has been around. That said, the fact that I, a Haunt enthusiast, don't know for sure whether or not that's true after two run-throughs, is, frankly, damning.

I was kind of thinking phobias? The really poorly done “fear of tight spaces” intro, clowns, a bug room, a “dark” room, the cracked mirror room with the meme worthy disco, a storm(?) room, and (I think) a snake room among other things?

I had a hard time trying to figure what was going on as well. I also assume the house wasn’t done given that the last room had a very large publicly visable opening for what looked to be a staging area with more props in there kind of thrown around. I had a hard time thinking that it was an anniversary house just because it was so… well half assed put together.

The fact we have to even debate this says a lot to be honest.

Well if we were to say it was an anniversary house we’d have to be able to pick out at least 3 past houses that were represented in it. Any ideas on what past houses could’ve been portrayed in 21?

Walking in originally, I thought it was going to be like vampires or something, but it definitely was not. The only room that has like a remote correlation to a house or scarezone in the past was the clown room at the very beginning, but that was it. The theme is definitely just common phobias, and that's the extent of it.

The entrance appeared to be a nod to Miners Revenge, There was one room that might have bern Outbreak, maybe one that might have slightly paid tribute to club blood if you really stretch your ur imagination. But beyond that not really anything i could link it to. I also didn't see favorites like Doll House or Zombie High that i would have expected.

The room somewhere after the snakes (?) room and somewhere before the outdoor/storm (?) room looked 100% like Doll Factory to me. It was a factory full of mannequins. That room is honestly what sold me on it being a throwback house. I don't know how else to explain its existence.

Though I'm not sure which spesific funhouse/clown house is being referenced in room #2 (immediately following the elevator), I know KD has had houses that look exactly like that before.

Like @horsesboy said, I also think the elevators are Miner's Revenge.

I think one of the two (?) bug rooms (?) was the bug house that used to be located in the zombie high building (I think?). It has been a while... Maybe one bug room is that house and the other is Outbreak like @horsesboy said?

There was also the doctor room. If the throwback house theory is right, that's Urgent Scare I'd think.

Anyway, yeah, the fact that this conversation exists... It's a testiment to how incredibly ineffective the house is. Not good at all.
