I know this is a bit early but the park will be celebrating it's 40th anniversary in 2015. Any ideas on how or if the park plans to celebrate this? Any special merchandise or something?

DarKastle was the big new thing for 2005, so chances are it'll be a shiny new major ride if the park decides to acknowledge the anniversary.

The park did acknowledge 10 years for Apollo, 25 for BBW, and 30 for Loch Ness, so they may do a park-wide celebration for the 40th.

For the twenty-fifth anniversary of The Big Bad Wolf, they closed it. Maybe the park will close. 
40 is such an obscure number... It's like Six Flags celebrating their 45th anniversary.
If they don't do anything for their 40th, they should definitely do something for their 50th because that is like half a century right there.

As far as the 10th and 20th anniversary of the park I don't think the park really acknowledged them. They may have advertised it in some way but there was no major attraction added those years to coincide with those dates.
The park did acknowledge their 10th anniversary. They had the Burgemeister and Beafeater cut a huge cake with the number 10 on it. The ceremony was held in England.

I'm glad you realize that they are two physically different establishments. I'd worry for you otherwise.
I would hope they'd do something. 40 years is a generation. Disney did it for Magic Kingdom at WDW last year. I'm not saying BG has to do everything Disney does, but it would be nice to have anniversary merchandise, passholder bonuses, special events, etc. Not the closing of a beloved roller coaster.
I know this is an old topic, but I mentioned a picture earlier that I had of their 10th anniversary celebration. I thought some of you might enjoy it.
I really hope they make a huge deal out of the 40th
SO did they give free cake to all the guests that visited that day? Or did the park feed it to employees or throw it out?
Why in the world would the park wanna throw out a perfectly good cake? I'm sure the guests all had a lovely slice of cake and the employees got either their own cake or the leftovers.
