I was able to find a brochure for this season. as predicted, it sports the whole "Born to/for..." theme the parks have gone to. The brochure is quite different than those of previous years (2007 or earlier - 2012), with a new theme, short, quick glances at what they have to offer, and not much else.

To be honest, I actually think the new brochure is just terrible. I know it's just a brochure, but really, it's pretty bad. It looks very thrown-together, incomplete, doesn't reflect what the park has to offer very well, lacks good insight, is very cheap-looking, and the the pictures are downright poor-quality. Anyone else seen this? It really doesn't do a good job at reflecting such a great park.

I'll try to have the brochure posted soon...

(By the way, I wasn't sure where exactly to post this, but it seems pretty news-y to me...)

I don't find it attractive either. I couldn't even find it when I looked because it blended in with all the other ones around it. That is one thing I loved about BG brochures, they stuck out like a sore thumb (in a good way:) ) I hope that they realize their mistake and fix it next year, but we must live with it now.

I also was shocked at how small and brief the new brochure is. For many years I have really liked the brochures for AB/SeaWorld Parks, and this one is a huge downgrade. My suspicion is that they are trying to save money on paper and printing considering that more people use online resources than they used to, but still, I think the brochure could show off the park more thoroughly and accurately than this new one does.

I haven't actually seen the new one yet but from what it looks like, you're definitely right. The previous years' maps have been very detailed and descriptive about the park and I have always liked them as well.

With that being said, I really like the "Born for..." advertising on it. The one paragraph with Alpengeist next to it that talks about putting away the video games is really awesome. I just wish the rides were a bit more glorified, but I guess that just goes to show BGW's unique focus: more on the experience than the thrills.

As promised, here is the complete brochure that I scanned--it is very cheap and tack looking!

What in your opinion makes it look so cheap? The lack of used paper? I honestly think it looks neat, compact, and professional.

I honestly dislike tacky, thrown-together design of the brochure that makes it look so incomplete. I just don't feel it really shows what the park has to offer or that it has pretty, consistent look. Still, it has its strong points (I do like how it kind of touches on all areas of the park with a quick snip-it of it, though). However, I am certainly in favor of them using less paper, PR ;) --after all, they are a very environmentally-consious park and that old brochure was a total tree killer.

Actually, now that I look at it, the scanned version looks nicer than the real thing, which really sticks out at you it's right in front of you. Still, it's not awful, and I do like the first full page (and they bring up LNM's 35th anniversary).

I think it is actually pretty nice, I really like how it has a page for everything, but it's not showing everything, like the old brochure which gets annoying. The only thing I recommend the park do is color the lettering, and the blank border, which makes it not look that good.

It could be worse. I picked up a Six Flags Over Georgia brochure in a hotel a few weeks ago on my cruise vacation and it was just a card (sorta like the 2010 CF brochures).

Yes the design is a generic, but the previous years designs (from about 2008 til now) looked pretty generic anyway. This new brochure takes the old design and simplifies it further. Definitely saves paper and is easier to ship around than the old booklets from before.

Yes it could have a bit more info, but most of that info is online nowadays. Yes it could have the old European stylings that the old 2001-2007 brochures had, but the park stepped away from those details long before this changeover.

After looking at some of the older brochures through the Theme Park Brochures website, some of the older brochures looked pretty generic too. Just pictures and text. Nothing special.

This one reminds me of the '98 Tampa brochure I have.. Definitely screams less Europe and more 90s to me.

This evening I finally came into possession of the new brochure. Yes, the overall design and size is a bit different. But I gotta be honest...for the most part I really like it.
I have done some publishing work in my time on this world, and it gets the job done. The only real negative I think is the pages with "Born to Celebrate" & "Born to Discover" as the headers. They feature Elmo and Wolf Haven respectively. There isn't really much to these pages. They feature a close-up shot of Elmo and a wolf with a child along with a lot of EMPTY space; meaning no useful imagery or information. Other than that it serves its purpose as a brochure. It gives you enough information to make you want to go to this park. A teaser if you will.
The new logo, fonts and color scheme are very nice and eye-catching. The one big plus is that it left out any mention or imagery of the three incarnations of ENTWINED (probably an oversight). Good job BGW!!

Speaking of EMPTY space, am I the only one who thinks this year's welcome sign is depressingly plain this year?

That welcome sign used to have meaning. It used to have a purpose. It used to give the operating schedule, upcoming events, etc. Now it has become a sign saying, "Hey, your at a really pretty park" which I guess it is okay to show off, but having a whole sign of this magnitude is just way over the top.

You would think the brilliantly creative mind of Scott would have filled that sign with magic and sparkles...? Brochure wise, the Page with the calendar reminds me of the windows phone. I guess I'm cool with the new look. I'm trying to embrace that it's not the "Olde country" any more.
