So I just saw that USA Today is doing their big Theme Park Halloween Event poll again this year and both KD and Busch are contenders once again... Let’s make KD WIN this year (they got 2nd last year)! As of this writing, they are in 3rd place! Vote once per day!
Voted for Howl-O-Scream. Don't tell me what to do! snaps in Z-formation.

I hate these easily-manipulated, popularity contests with every fiber of my being and refuse to participate in them just based on principle.

Fright Dome doesn't even exist this year yet there it is, beating plenty of great events that, you know, actually exist.

Here is my thing, how can you vote on what you like best when they are not even open yet? I have no way of knowing if HOS or Haunt is going to be better or worse at this point. Past experience tells me I will like Haunt better but, I also know that has not been true every year. Hell some years they both suck.

Sometimes I vote for my favorite that is already in the top 10 since they probably have a higher likelihood of winning. For instance, I prefer Tampa's Howl-O-Scream over Williamsburg, but I will only vote for them if they have a stronger chance of winning over BGW.

Also, some parks even encourage employees to vote, so they are very easily rigged, as others have said. One year BGW sent a letter to team members, reminding them that 10Best will block an IP address if too many people vote in the same place. I wouldn't be surprised if KD did something similar. I couldn't imagine them ranking so highly against other events from fan feedback alone, honestly.

Can I request that all talk about the USA Today poll be placed into its own thread, sort of like last year? I would do it myself but I think that only a moderator can do it. Thanks!

P.S. KD is now in SECOND PLACE behind SCarowinds (We can't let them take the title of best Cedar Fair Haunt!) and BGW is still in 6th place.

KD is now in first place! BGW is still in 6th... now we just have to make sure it stays that way (maybe BGW can get a little higher) for another 25 days.

Get ready for slam-packed crowds at Haunt this year (I believe that last year's poll boosted attendance like crazy... I had never seen crowds like those I saw in the final two Saturdays of last season... If I remember correctly the line for Blood on the Bayou was all the way towards the middle of Cleaver Bros. at one point).

I wasn't doing this before (I swear!), but I may start voting for Fright Dome every day now. Seeing a non-existent haunt actually win USA Today's Best Theme Park Halloween Event of 2018 would be thoroughly amusing... And it would be a great example to point to in the future when I claim that these polls are absolutely, positively worthless.

This was the first thing I thought of when I saw the list, there isn't even going to be a Fright Dome this year... This is really laughable.

I guess I’ll make a weekly poll update each Friday barring any major surprises.

Fright Dome has stayed in first all week and hasn’t moved once (maybe we should let the website know that they don’t exist anymore and they’ll remove them? 😂) Kings Island took second place recently ever since the park started advertising the poll.

Kings Dominion is currently in 3rd place; they’ve been bouncing between 2nd and 4th all week. Carowinds and Kings Island seem to be putting up a tougher fight this year.

BGW is currently in 9th place. They’ve been slowly sinking all week.

This poll really loses its credibility if Fright Dome wins it all. Also, it’s interesting to see that last year’s winner, Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain, is currently in 18th place.

Keep voting!

Weekly USA Today poll update:

I’ll keep it short: KD is still in third place and has been all week. Fright Dome and Kings Island have been fighting for first place; while Fright Dome has been in first for most of the week, KI has a brief stint in first either yesterday or the day before that. BGW has crept up to 8th place.

Y’all know what to do.

BTW, the Lake Compounce event is great. They have the graveyard, and a few other scares, but they leave a majority of the core of the park untouched, so it's still a great place to take you kids during the day. They also donate some of the money from theirs to Diabetes research (something near and dear to my heart).
