This is happy news! This show might just be my favorite BG experience. I thought we’d never get to see it again.

Honestly I am shocked at the end of it's 2019 season the same sources that are now telling me he is coming back were saying that the park was actively looking at doing the show with a different lead to get it under Sea's budget requirements so the fact that it's coming back WITH him after everything that came down is almost unbelievable to me if I didn't know the full source if the information I am not sure I would trust it.

Also seems likely that after the last year Elvis was willing to agree to a smaller contract then he might have back then.

Also, given the issues with the pandemic it's probably just easier to bring back an old show then to try and create a bunch of new ones. There are easier ways to add something new to CT.

From what I was told BGW REALLY wanted the show back in 2020 pre Covid. Corporate had dictated a budget that BGW had to get it under to be allowed to bring it back. Tge rental of tge ice equipment and other required cost was making it really hard to get it under that figure even with replacing him. So I think it's highly likely Sea has opened the budget up some.

From what I have heard the reason Twas the Night starts so late was that at the time the contract was written they were assuming a usually Thanksgiving start of Christmas Town.

2021 description from the BGW site:

Champion figure skater, Elvis Stojko, brings the magic of Christmas Eve alive in a spectacular show

This holiday season the stage of the Royal Palace Theatre will transform for a full-scale ice show. ‘Twas That Night re-imagines the magic of Christmas Eve and the classic poem A Visit From St. Nicholas. World-champion figure skater Elvis Stojko brings this beloved Christmas story to life, on ice.
Combining the grace of professional figure skating with cherished Christmas music, original holiday songs and magnificent visuals, ‘Twas That Night wishes a happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night at Busch Gardens Christmas Town.

If you are a fan of the show having a dog in it then be sure to thank Elivis' Wife Gladdus who is also the show's choreographer who search begged and pleaded till she found a cast member willing to loan them a dog when the park wasn't willing to spend any money getting one.

I was so worried we wouldn't have this show in 2021! I'm very glad we do.

I have fairly decent sources that say that if it wasn't for Covid causing cancelations in both Elvis and the production company's sedchule them to both come down in pricing that it was may 25/75 odds that there wouldn't have been one.

So basically in translation, COVID-19 allowed for the production to be cheap enough for the park to go for it?

There is a little more to it. The big factor was the skating with the star show that the and Elvis were supposed to be doing till late October got canceled. That left them with both a need to find another money maker and a lot more free time. basically from my understanding the company was willing to do it pre-covid even with a packed sedchule but were going to charge a premium for it based on it stretching them which put it out of the park's reach. Elvis was almost certainly a no go pre-covid as he wiped after the tight change over in 2019. If he had been willing to do it again it would have been another year of a fill in for the first week or two and then him catching up and from what heard he didn't really want to do that again.

All good - tbf I was just trying to understand what you were trying to say, maybe poor autocorrect or something.

The holidays wipe me out and my dyslexia can be really bad when I am fatigued. I will probably look at it in the morning and be like what the heck and try ro edit it. Sorry about that.

No worries - I didn't realize you have dyslexia, but I think I got the gist of where you were going. My apologies if you felt I was calling attention to your situation otherwise!

No apology necessary. You asked for nothing but clarity so there is nothing to apologize for but thank you for the sentiment.

I guess a brief summary of what I was trying to say was yes it was price but because the price was HIGH and going up do to outside factors pre-covid not the park just trying to get the show cheap for budget reasons.

It's always been an issue for tge show. The first year was a mess the park upgraded the equipment after that which helped some but clearly hasn't completely solved the problem
I think they got new coolers for the ice this year. Not sure though.

They lease it so it's possible that they were able to lease a more powerful machine them in the past given things still being canceled.
