Thanks Gavin. "Subject" took me to 3 Bumps down, or the bottom of my page 39. That left 2 more Bumps on the next page 40. So it at least did not take me the last post. Did you make a change or was it the link I picked? I'll try to remember using subject over the date.

On the main page, under the subs for that park, is there a way to have the timestamp of the last post show up? Unless I'm missing it. You guys used to have that and it was really cool.

Considering a solution for this. Thanks for the input!

I miss all my beautiful park icons and flags! They were hard work...

The icons are almost certainly a core part of the plan to differentiate park threads.

An issue that caused posts with content wider than the post display area to break the page (for example Instagram embeds on mobile) has hopefully been fixed.

People who browse the forum while not logged in will now see one or two banner ads on most pages across ParkFans.

This does not mean we have decided to remove ads for all logged in users. While they are not yet implemented for people who are logged in, one or two small, unobtrusive ads for anyone without an active donation may make a comeback soon. We anticipate making a lot of tweaks to our funding model over the next month or so. In light of that, expect to see some occasional advertising experiments happen here and there.

That said, we can commit to a couple things:
  1. People who are logged in will always see fewer/less obvious advertisements than those who are browsing as guests.
  2. People with active donations (new, actually automated, donor system is coming, I swear!) will not see ads of any kind as long as they are logged in.
  3. Advertisements will never invade content areas, overlay parts of the website, etc. I hate shitty ads just as much as everyone else. They won't ever find their way onto ParkFans.
Lastly, just so anyone who is curious doesn't have to log out to see what the ads look like for those who aren't logged in, here's a screenshot:

In an ongoing effort to reduce the number of subfora for officially covered parks, defunct sections have been eliminated from the the BGW attractions fora.

Previously the structure looked like this:
  1. Attractions
    • Operating Attractions
    • Defunct Attractions
    • Operating Seasonal Attractions
    • Defunct Seasonal Attractions
    • Tours & Exclusive Experiences
After today's changes the structure looks like this:
  1. Attractions
    • Seasonal Attractions
    • Tours & Exclusive Experiences
Additionally, threads in the three subfora listed above have all been tagged according to their operating status (existing or defunct) and other relevant categories (attraction type, associated special event, etc). Similarly, event threads from the last two years in BGW's Special Events subforum have been tagged with the appropriate year.

The next task in the subforum restructuring is the BGW Entertainment subforum. Going to work on that right now.

Hopefully these updates make the BGW area easier to navigate. Assuming the changes go over well, you can expect similar alterations to come to the KD area soon™.

Since y'all don't have enough to do already. Is there a way return the thread titles to the post headings that also serve as links which takes you to the top of each page as before?

I'm sure most of you have already seen it in action by now, but today I implemented a solution for this issue.

Thread title bars now stick right below the main menu bar at the top of the site. Clicking the thread name will take you back up to the top of the current page.

What many of you may not have seen yet is thread cover images—now back from ParkFans v. 2 and hopefully better than ever! The number of threads with covers uploaded thus far is rather small so I've included some screenshots of them in action below.

If you want to check out an updated thread for yourself, Verbolten is a good, working example.

Oh, also, a new, custom solution is in the works for differentiating between park threads in thread lists (like What's New/Unreads). Much to the delight of many (especially @Shane), expect the old v. 2 park icon paradigm to return soon™.

I've been noticing with this new one: It's a little more difficult to know what I have and haven't already read. Is there a way to make that more pronounced?

Like, when you're reading a thread with unread posts, you're having a hard time telling which specific posts in that thread are the new ones? Am I understanding that right?

If so, I can certainly look into adjusting things to make it a little more clear.

I mean in terms of which threads I haven't read and which ones I have.

Are you using the What’s New button at the top or going to the Unread Posts list in the index sidebar?

I tend to go to unread posts, but going into the fora for like KD, when I scroll down it's not set up in a way that unread threads are bolded or indicated that I've never viewed them.

I think I got it now! So in a specific subforum, threads with unread posts don't stand out in the thread listing, yeah?

I should be able to do something about that.
