Well, it’s a format that doesn’t readily work on mobile. Having to download an app just to view a video seems a bit too much to ask.

I know it's an outdated format I was just engaging in some light banter, I just think it would be funny for that format to be in here.

I made that post as part of a joke that I knew the staff would appreciate. Please don't drag it on.

My apologies.

As many of you have likely seen, park icons have begun making their heroic return! Icons for BGW and KD threads should all now be fully implemented. More will come soon™.

Additionally, @warfelg pointed out a pretty serious issue with the theme that I, frankly, had no idea about. I only ever browse the forum from What's New so I never encountered the struggle of trying to find which threads in a thread list contained unread posts. Huge thanks to Warfelg for pointing it out. After I saw the previous state of things for myself, it was pretty clear something had to be done.

For now, the titles of threads with unread posts have been bolded. A fancy solution may come eventually, but for now, that should help some.

Lastly for tonight (I think?) the Kings Dominion attractions board has been restructured to closely resemble the recent changes to the BGW attractions board. The new structure looks like this:
  • Attractions
    • Soak City Attractions
    • Seasonal Attractions
Dividing Soak City's attractions from the main park's attractions is a fairly notable departure from our previous practice of treating Soak City simply as another area of Kings Dominion. I'd be curious to know people's reactions to this. Is it unnecessarily inconsistent? Is the inconsistency justified in light of the complexity of the relationship between Kings Dominion and Soak City?

I think Soak City should perhaps be at the bottom of that list, if at all. Maybe it can also be a different color? Example:
This way I am not so distracted by Soak City if it has to be there.
  • Attractions
  • Seasonal Attractions
  • Soak City Attractions

I thought about that, but then I decided that following the paradigm put forward in the BGW attractions board of sorting subfora based on their level of importance to the overall park was probably best. In my mind, Soak City attractions have longer operating calendars and see a lot more guests per year than the park's Seasonal Attractions, so I opted to put those first.

As for color, I think making it look different would just highlight it, not subdue it.

I get not caring about threads for Soak City attractions. It was always my opinion that they really clogged up the main KD attractions subforum. Hopefully by splitting them out, they don't get in the way quite as much anymore.

Unfortunately, no. That said, users can now create and delete posts in their own existing threads at will. That means you can manually switch out the thread's poll as much as you want now. Hopefully this can serve a similar function?

Page title headers have been shrunk down some so they hopefully won't get in the way as often. And on that note, I'm looking for opinions on whether or not to remove the floating title headers on mobile devices all together. If you have strong opinions in either direction, let me know.

I also fixed a bug with the rich text editor buttons that prevented them from properly reflecting the current font styling selections. (The bold button, for instance, will now correctly reflect that it is selected.)

Lastly for now, subforum consolidation work is continuing. If you see anything wacky in the forum listings, check back in a few minutes to see if it has been fixed—there's a good chance that I'm actively working on that section of the forum.

Oh. Also...

The brief plague of god-awful smilies has come to a permanent end! Long live emoji! ?

Hint: Try out the emoticon button in the text editor. ?

A new feature was born out of unfortunate necessity tonight.

___.jpg

At least until we assemble a new advisory panel and form a more complete set of guidelines around its usage, this feature will see very limited usage—likely being isolated to breaking news in high-visibility threads.

In the interest of not cluttering up the forum, I search to see if a video or media has already been posted. Sometimes it is painful and not worth the time to surf through so many threads that can also be over 50 pages. I can sort of see my own attachments via my Latest Activity. Using the forum Search function is hit or miss depending on the search terms I try. Of course, images could be named anything anyway and don't show up in searches I've done. Is it just best to post away again? Someone else may have already shared something, but the new posts getting the credits seems improper. On the other side, other members (and newbies) likely don't have the time to peruse years of threads for info and might like a refresh? I guess I'm just sulking over a pipe dream of coding that could easily find links, attachments, PDFs, YouTube, and their ilk. ?
