  1. The leprechaun's name was Clancy.
  2. The show was removed because everything always broke (Sound wouldn't work, Clancy anamatronic would malfunction, ect.) and everyone would have to leave so that everything could be sorted out.
I also had a funny experience with this show:
Remember how the "new owner of the castle" (Who would usually be a different actor every couple days) would walk around the set and point out stuff that they could potentially "fix up" to make the place more profitable for selling? Well, this time, when the actor was doing that, she tripped and fell flat on her face. She got up, brushed herself off, and said "And the floorboards need some work, too." Good save, actor lady. Good save.

I found some very interesting images of the show here.

Sadly, I never got to see the show before the castle was raided by ABC- and 123-loving monsters, but it looks like pure Killarney gold. Get it, "Gold," because of--oh, never mind. I would love for some mystical special-effects show to return to its rightful place, though I fear it may soon become vacant for an unsettling amount of time. :(

^If they played the Europe in the Air video in there to "enhance" the ride, you probably couldn't tell the difference between the old EitA and the new one! Seriously, though, I would love to see a well-themed ride in the castle again. Unfortunately, especially in Catapult's case, the park certainly wouldn't be looking for new ways to spend money with construction/movement, special effects, and maintaining the ride building to put anything back in there. But lots of things are better than Elmo...or nothing at all. :-/

At this point, I don't think moving the Catapult inside that building would be wise. It costed them a lot of money to turn that building into a theater.
Even though I would love to see Catapult in an indoor location again, Castle O'Sullivan is not the place. Think of all the room going to waste in Festa Italia. I think all they really need to do, is an inclosed building. It wouldn't take up as much room as you would think, because Castle O'Sullivan houses much more than just the theater room.

The Dr. speaks the truth. And The Enchanted Laboratory of Nostramos the Magnificent, to me, was that much more than Secrets.

The new forum about the dropped tower concept for the 90s, reminded me of something. Secrets of Castle O'Sullivan was in the works for four years, at the same time they were also deciding whether to have a show in the building or a drop tower type ride. Obviously, they chose to have a show in the building, because there was already the existing theater. Even though they had four years to develop the show, they contracted several different companies throughout the development process. Part of this was due to companies dropping the project, saying that the show of this scale would be too big for such a small theater. They did end up scaling down the show significantly by the time it opened however. I wish the part would try to bring back the show, and try to do it in a way that would use all our current more sophisticated technology. I loved the show very much as it was, but I would love to be able to see what they would've done with it, had they been able to do everything they wanted to.

Edit:To name just one of the few things that got cut from the final project: they originally wanted Aaron (the main character) to be able to walk across the bridge into the faerie world. At one point they even wanted to have a ring of fire on the stage when Seamus came out, but of course the fire department said that was a no-no.

Alright, I found some of the concept designs from the show on my computer, along with some rare photos showing the pneumatic mechanisms for the puppet of Clancey.
You can view them on Flickr here.
I have much more where that came from, but I can't find it right now. If/when I find the missing photos, I will try to post them.
