The waterfalls were working yesterday, kinda. Comparing to that 2019 POV, yesterday it seemed more like fountains than waterfalls. I used to get drenched on this ride when they were working in full effect.
I've gotten the waterfall exactly once in all of my rides on it... and it came on Memorial Day Weekend of 2013, when my brother made my family (read: my dad and I, my mom refused to get on for reasons to be mentioned shortly) ride it despite it being roughly 65 degrees outside.

Coincidentally, I've also used the family dryer at a theme park exactly once before.

IMO a good water ride should have some level of predictability to the level of how wet you get. Case and point: Congo River Rapids @ BGT. This ride will most of the time absolutely soak 2-4 riders leaving another 2-4 riders nearly dry.

The only time I rode this, the other 2 people on the raft got soaked from the waterfalls. Laughed, but guiltily because it was cold and this was long before walk-in dryers. Truly was Water Roulette.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating on ride, and I totally understand some people’s feelings for and against it but wouldn’t it make more sense for them to replace Roman Rapids here at bgw and relocate it up to water country? With le Scoot and escape from Pompeii kinda already more loved rides in the water thrill ride space?

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who prefers it not having the waterfalls. I'd much rather ride it in it's form last year and not have to worry about being drenched head-to-toe when I get off.
I had an idea a couple of years ago that during Food and Wine, they turn the waterfalls off for a couple hours and instead it's a somewhat relaxing "boat ride" through the canals of Venice. Inspired by seeing a couple that was very clearly dressed more for the Food and Wine aspect of the park than they were probably any ride more extreme than the train, who I quite frankly only remembered because some toddler got loose from his parents and flat-tired her sundress.
