I'm glad that isn't getting bigger attention from the national media. We'd just have to deal with more Blackfish crap since it's SeaWorld.

Aaaannnd another Non-news story. That lady's quote is just maddening.

But I LOVE the Carowinds response. Bullet points underlined by me.

The real story here is rides are highly sophisticated attractions with built in control and safety systems. Fury 325 has over 450 sensors. Much like your car, if the check engine light comes on, there may not be a problem but you eventually drive it to see a mechanic. The same thing happens with our rides but we don't wait to have our engineers take a look. The ride stops at designated locations. We realize the stoppage may be a bit of an inconvenience to the guest, but it gives our engineers a few moments to evaluate before sending riders on their way.

Once again – we'd like to reiterate these rides are performing EXACTLY as they are designed to do. We have overlapping layers of inspections for all of our rides, and work hand in hand with regulatory agencies and third party inspectors.

Fury has delivered over a quarter million rides in just five short weeks

Go get them Carowinds!

EDIT:
They should be celebrating this marvel.

While over at Intimidator the line can be a third the size of Fury's, the station can be half empty, they still assign seats, and YET it can take over 30 minutes to ride. The line was backed up past the middle of the queue several times. At one attempt to a short line, we stood at the bridge for 20 minutes without moving. We got out of line and went back to Fury since it was only taking 10 minutes to get a ride.

Double post. Some y'all are going to have to move closer.

A more level headed report.

Inspectors Carowinds Fury325 is safe to ride.

I really like Mike Fehnel. He seems so real, unlike the artificial vibe I get from another park's president. He was so excited Preview Night and was on the loading deck all night. He probably liked this "news" scrutiny so he could have an excuse to ride it 4 more times to his 74th time.

Triple...sorry.

The park is closed today. They are continuously running Fury325 trains with water dummies in every other row. Curious.

I'd be glad to go down and be a dummy for them, just sayin'.

I figure it is media coverage related. A shame. All those trains going through with no people. Like pouring fine wine on the ground.

If 250,000 people have ridden, that works out to 7812-ish times a train has run. ONLY 3 have stopped. ALL without injury or death. Well, there is that little bit of wooziness after the 6th ride in a row, but that is my fault. :p

I just think about all the times Verbroken stopped, broke down or valleyed. Fury hasn't even blinked. There is just no justice.

^To be fair, it is probably more than that, but the uncounted ones are for 30 seconds or less. I was on the first train of the day for 4/4/15 and I have a GoPro chest mounted video of us getting stuck for about 30 seconds or so. It was terrifying because of how high up we were, but not because we felt that we were in danger. It was a pretty cool and memorable experience, and I'm glad I have a video to relive it!

That being said the media is totally in the wrong here, and they're coming across almost as slanderous just to create some quick money and a sensational title. Shame on them.

It looks like they have changed the timing. Instead of a train leaving the station and going up the lift, it stops right outside the station. There it waits until the train in the circuit is near that trim brake, before the helix, and then continues to the lift.

The outgoing train is consistently between the two middle supports (right before where it has perviously stopped) as the incoming train enters the brake run.

I preferred the feel of leaving the station and hitting the lift without hesitation. I'll have to see if this changes any dynamics for me on the next trip.

Crud, same weekend as BGW's 40th.

Fury 325 will give its 325,000th ride this Friday to one lucky person! The 325,000th rider will receive a ‪#‎Fury325‬ swag pack full of awesomeness and will have the entire train to him/herself. Will it be YOU?!?!

What are the chances Fury hits 1,000,000 passengers this season? Quick math says it's basically a given.

Anyone have a point of comparison to know whether or not these numbers are particularly impressive?

Sure thing, Zachary. These numbers are very impressive. 1,000,000 riders is a common milestone and goal for parks to set for only their biggest and most popular attractions. It isn't uncommon for well-liked rides with good capacity to hit 1,000,000 riders for a season, but it typically takes just about the entire summer season to do so. The fact that Fury 325 has eclipsed 300,000 riders on weekends-only operation thus far (save for Spring Break) is really quite incredible. I would expect a coaster of similar size and capacity to have 100,000-175,000 riders max at this point. Fury is guaranteed to reach a million riders this season, and I would venture that at this rate it will happen by at least mid-July, which is a ridiculous feat. Any other coasters around the nation looking to reach that threshold will be hitting it in around September.

How do you think they are counting bodies? There aren't any turnstiles. Are they counting trains or is this a guestimate? Some have said the people directing you to seats are counting. But, that seems like a hectic job to do and remember what number you were on.

Agreed. They were doing pretty good while I was there, but it was a clear difference.

After seeing the success of having the transfer table in front of the ride, I wouldn't be surprised if more future B&M's have them. The crew only has to worry about safety and capacity at all times. They can dispatch early and it'll sit on the transfer table until the block is clear and the next train can be safely sent on the lift. So getting a ride out early, it'll stay at capacity, however if they get hung up, it'll go straight to the lift. That little bit before the lift also gives a few seconds to get back in the groove too following say a walk of shame or something. It's a great system, and the crew is hammering it out. This will indeed be a huge success for Carowinds. Especially considering they just had a record Memorial Day weekend according to Ouimet, who knows what the rest of the year will be like.

Thought I'd share some Fury merch.
