Ok, I might be out thinking myself and connecting unneeded dots but:

They build this and it’s a HOS attraction. It opens this year and what’s in DK and this are meant to replace anything in festhaus field.

2018 - HOS this opens up. FHF no longer in use. Freed up to start clearing out.
2019 - groundbreaking on project Madrid
2020 - Madrid opens

No way they will get this built in time for HOS 2018 even if they broke ground today. Remember this would not just be a warehouse and will require more in the way of emergency exits, emergency lighting, sprinklers, and such. As well once the actual building is complete then the interior set is built it will also need consideration for more exit and emergency lighting and sprinklers. Drainage will also be a consideration since they are removing trees and green space and adding such a large amount of roof and hardscape. So this will requite site work on the surrounding area in some form. Not saying it couldn't be done but a rushed project costs more and with limited access because of the train track and existing buildings will make the process slower. I would love to see a permanent highly detailed structure that wasn't weather dependent for operation built.

True. I'll say that the building I'm in (a casino) was built in about 13 months from breaking ground through to the ribbon cutting ceremony. Five floors, 365K feet of space for gaming (plus about that again for support operations, food venues, banquet facilities, etc). I'm not saying everything was perfect on opening day, but with enough money that's pretty doable.
Which begets the next question - is there enough money to rush this build for HOS, and maybe just move an existing house into this one (Scarlet's Revenge) vs build out a new house?

I think even moving an existing house in the building will be pushed for time. I would also be very disappointed if it was just a old house in a new location.

Prefab steel buildings, even ground up, can get done in 3 months time. I have seen bigger construction miracles pulled off.

Especially if they are effectively relocating something into that spot.

Just keep in mind we know nothing other than it’s a building, the size, and the placement. I wouldn’t say it can’t be done until we know more.

Also, just want to throw out there, the feeling I get from a lot of HOS fans is they would be upset with the lose of some attractions. And given the shape the chain is in I think moving an attraction instead of scrapping it and building a new one would be a much better financial decision.

Im not saying it cant be done but it is highly unlikely. The combination on many factors take time, site work for drainage will take time, the building will need to be built and a COO issued before they can start using the space as "event space". Then they can start constructing the "temporary" sets inside which will then need inspections. There is time to get the building built for HOS but not time in my opinion for both the building and to build the show.

I agree in some cases yes moving it is a better idea financially but I think what it is mostly that (at least speaking for myself) is that we have lost a house this year (catacombs). And as a fan i am always looking for the company to do better. When i normally plan a trip around an event it tends to be something like HOS. (I plan to attend a few others this year as well) And i mostly want to see an event that can go head to head with others and stand their own. And i know that in order for that to happen we need to get rid of the dead weight(pardon the pun) and come with something new. But stay smart with it. Don't take away 2 houses and give us nothing in return that matches up. That is why i'm personally hoping this space can do it for us.. But also moving a house comes with its own set of problems that the team there has to be ready for. Its a lot no matter how i look at it actually and my inner Haunted attraction nerd is coming out so i will save everyone that long winded spiel. lol

I would like to clarify why I say it’s a unrealistic timeline to be done for HOS 18 and that is the site. It’s a tight sight and will require sitework around many other already in place structures and utilities. If the site for the building was festhaus park I think it would be possible.

I get that. But even if it was one year just moving that’s better than losing one completely.

Didn’t the set up the one in DK within a month? Not saying that didn’t have its own advantages, but they’ve shown the ability to move very quickly on something like that. I get the concerns of the timeline, but I’ve seen it done (and have been part of a team) before; that’s the wonder of pre-fab. There’s very little chance to get any issues with construction after the pad is poured (yes the drainage around it is part of that).

Not sure i haven't seen the one in DK. I am trying to read some reviews on in on my breaks. But if it took a month that is damn good. Hopefully the quality wasnt lacking.

For what it's worth, this building is about three times the size of any haunted house at Busch Gardens Tampa, which averages at around 5,000 sq ft. I think their largest house footprint is only 6,000-6,500 square ft.

Still, BGT maximizes the potential of all of their buildings, making them seem much larger as haunted houses. I'm sure BGW could fit more than one maze in here if they wanted to.

Something to consider. IF and that is a BIGLY IF project Madrid is in fact a coaster and not, a 300' tall driving range, AND they plan to use DF's old site which makes sense, since it has a path and all, it is very likely that they would want to flatten DF's old structures which currently serve as HOS houses and storage.

It seems logical to me, that if that were the case they would want to remove those early in the project just like they would want to start clearing early. In fact the permit burden is so light that it may happen early just to leave room to stage material in a easy spot. Regardless they have to have somewhere to put all of Scott's old folly and tinsel. (So much mylar....)

Further they may want to consolidate all of Ent's crap into one location as it is, as I understand spread out the park like so many trading stamps.
Maybe someone told them to clear out of every nook and cranny because they want to use those spaces for actual things.

If I were and operations type and recently took over I might want to start by organizing the place.

Simple solution: put a HOS maze inside the building themed to Christmas.  Santa can use it during CT.

(I am only half-kidding.)

11/10

Best idea ever.

It has the benefit of letting the park recycle Xmas Town decor and traumatizing the kids of irresponsible parents.  Plus it lets the Krampus finally come to The Olde County.

...or Belsnickel ;)

Although this doesn't mean that they are not still planning on doing the project, the park withdrew the application with the county for the project on 4/4. Maybe they will resubmit at a later date, but it appears they withdrew the special use permit.

Could the removal of the proposal be tied to the semi trailers on DF site that is mentioned in the Madrid thread? If the building was for entertainment props and storage as was hypothesized, maybe the trailers are an easier way to get things stored without the need for permenant structures and building permits.

Highly doubt it. It isn't like the building was going to be ready in a week where they needed space that soon. Whatever the trailers are for aren't related to this.

For what little it might be worth there are still survey stakes set up behind the royal palace.
