While i do wish we had more time to just enjoy the park in it's normal non-special events form, i don't think the scaffolding will be too bad as long as the show fits with it. When i was in Ireland there was scaffolding around part of Blarney castle, so it's not really too out of place here. Of all the things they have done for illuminights over the years this fits better than most.

I disagree, faries, leprechauns, witches, and farm animals fit Ireland more than anything else. The cu cu clock for Oktoberfest fit Oktoberfest perfectly in theme and Giardino Magico fits well in a garden.

Honestly, this show just makes me angry. IllumiNights is an opportunity for the park to throw colored lights and gaudy tinsel onto everything but, instead of giving Ireland the mystical feel the hamlet has always needed, they put performers on scaffolding and call it a show. This is the one time when Scott's style could have actually worked but no, instead we get construction workers.

I do love the whimsical feel of Ireland and hope they do not get rid of the charm during the regular season. I don't see a big problem with a modern special events show however. What's the difference between this and deadline?? Plus in Ireland the only thing i saw that you listed were farm animals. There were lots of old buildings being worked on though.
If done right this could be a show for all ages, unlike the old illuminights leprechaun show.

When i say all ages i was including adults with no kids. My wife and i have never made it through an illuminights show because with no kids most of them are pretty goofy.

I think Scott's style is actually defined by whatever doesn't make sense. I hate to say it this brutally, but I will say once again; he hasn't designed a single good original show concept by himself. The only good shows he made, in my opinion, where the original Christmas Town shows, and Mix it Up. However, if you think about it, all of those were knockoffs of other shows, including Rejoice. Rejoice was a very blatant knock off of a group that went by the name of Gregorian. They even "borrowed" their arrangements for the songs, and I doubt they paid for it. Remember Dig it Up from Howl-O-Scream? They were almost sued for using music without permission. Basically, he just seems to throw everything together last minute, and thinks that bright lights will solve all of his problems, obviously if you throw Christmas lights all over a dirty restroom, that won't make it look any prettier. Ah, I expected someone to bring this up and had already realized that I really don't have a good answer for it. That said, the best argument I can come up with is that Howl-O-Scream is a completely overhaul of the park's theme- everything from decorations to lighting to shows to attractions are changed to make the event radically different from the rest of the season. IllumiNights sits in this strange place between a collection of evening shows and a full-blown special event. I suppose the main difference is that Howl-O-Scream gives the park a complete cohesive and immersive overlay whereas IllumiNights feels like random abstract ideas cobbled together and stamped with the words "Special Event". Quite honestly, I think it all comes back to the problem of the park not having a true "normal season" anymore. The park's beautiful theming and atmosphere is always overlaid with something to match the theme of a special event these days and, because IllumiNights takes place during the summer (a time when most all other parks are very vanilla) and isn't based around a holiday (in contrast to Howl-O-Scream and Christmas Town), it makes it an easy target to shoot down in order to give the park its main season back.
Basically, if IllumiNights was simply a reason to give the park's existing theme a more magical feeling after dark, I'd have zero problem with it- I'm just very uncomfortable with the park switching out an entire hamlet's theme during what should be the park's main season.
