Did anyone get photos of the square pizza? I really wanted to see what that looked like.

The square "pizza" was beyond revolting. There really needs to be a different word. Clearly it was removed from the park menu for good reason and should never have been brought back. It was worse then the worst public school cafeteria pizza you can imagine. I took one bite and wanted to spit it out. The fries were just awful as well.

Frankly I would have preferred to watch London Rocks on a loop for half a day that eat that garbage. (and frankly that may be an insult to garbage)

The square pizza is easily on my top ten list of the most the disgusting garbage I've ever had the displeasure of consuming in the park and let me tell you, I've tried some really horrible food at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Whoever thought it should return should be fired. Also, who the hell serves pizza with fries?

Really though, I feel like the fact that the park decided to bring this crap of all things back is a massive slap in the face. What about the famous German chocolate cake in Das Festhaus? Brisket sandwiches at Trappers? There were sensible options. The return of square pizza is downright asinine.

A number of different departments inside the park did a great job with the 40th (most notably merch and entertainment), but Culinary clearly didn't give a shit.

Yes, sadly I was a very picky eater as a kid so I consumed the stuff. My school was small without a real cafeteria so we had the spongy, round microwave pizza that I am certain was far worse than what you were served at the park this weekend. Therefore, I viewed the 70s Festhaus pizza as a treat. Hey, it didn't kill me. I totally agree about bringing back the brisket sandwich at Trappers. That with a substituted side of green beans was my go-to park feast. I got over being picky, but now I have to order the Sampler Platter for brisket?!?

Not that I'm condoning shitty pizza, but could it be possible that back in the day it was around, it was made with better ingredients?

I mean I'm pretty sure most people, who attend regularly have noticed a decline in the main meal offerings recently.

They probably made it the same way they make their other "pizza"s. Or it's a cheap frozen pizza.

I've never had any problems with the current Pizza at the Festhaus, other than it not being cut occasionally. The pizza at La Cucina is another story, however. But that pizza seriously looks like it came out of my school cafeteria, it's cut the same way, too. I think my school's pizza may look even better than that. :/

Who goes to BGW for pizza anyway? It's always greasy and tastes like generic pizza. Last time I had park pizza I threw it away because I hated the taste lol. Luckily it was pizza a friend gave to me because he couldn't finish it lol.

Parents with kids who are picky eaters typically get their kids pizza or mac & cheese. I remember getting that stuff for my son and daughter when we were going to the park. I don't remember either of them FINISHING the pizza, though.....>

Here's some more pictures from yesterday of some of the street performers and other things.  The picture of the plaque is from the Gypsy wagon sign.  It gives some of it's history and of its construction.  Hopefully it's readable.  I purchased the DVD of the documentary so I'm happy as I enjoyed watching it.

I know I had gotten the square pizza as a kid with my family because it was appealing to me since it was something that I regularly ate at school, and it was almost exactly the same...  I don't remember the German Chocolate cake though so I am curious was it the standard German chocolate; chocolate, cocoanut, etc.  I'm wondering because it was named after the chef that created the recipe, not because it was from Germany.  Just wondering.

Busch Gardens 40 Years of Fun will be showing on WHRO on June 1 and June 6 at 8PM. The webpage will be  updated each time it's shown as it plans to be shown multiple times throughout the summer. Also, some sad news but right now, November 1st will be the last day 40th anniversary merch will be sold.

I had mentioned this in another thread. But think it should be attached to this thread.

Anniversary performers so far are bagpipes, gypsy violinist, Aquitaine singer, rat catcher, Flower girl, Oompah Band, Enchanted Lab, and street magician. The bagpiper is an excellent player and really friendly. The magician is a great guy and does a funny show. The Oompah Band has fluctuated between 2 and 4 players. We are hoping to meet the other performers soon.

I'd recommend catching any of these guys when you can. We should show our support for them and let the park know this is the kind of thing we like.

On a sadder note, don't look for a BBW car to be placed on display.
