It was a small portion of the announcement today that said the Festhaus Kaffe will be transformed into a new "Brewing Club" where you can have draft beers from what the VP of culinary said would be mostly micro-brewers and other local breweries.

You can also keep your mug/stein of your choice in the lounge when you leave the park and use it again when you come back.

The interesting thing about this part of the announcement was that the VP of culinary was straight up with the audience and said that the Festhaus Kaffe didn't perform as they had hoped. Maybe that's what was so different about this announcement, I wasn't lied to repeatedly by park execs, for the most part they were all truthful with the audience.

Any information on how to make sure you get one in there? Do you buy it there?

Just an idea of mine here, but I am thinking there would be an 'initiation' period for keeping/displaying your stein there. Either a 5 visit minimum, or 10 beers purchased minimum to 'join the club' per say. it would certainly keep them from having to store/display steins for people who are only going to visit a few times per season.

Do the steins count as a pass member perk?

One of my concerns is that he mentioned keeping the cell phone charging stations. How does the park intend to make sure people are actually in the room for the beers and not going in just to use the chargers? I could see the possibility for people taking up space and not buying and people who want to acutely spend money being left out.

Maybe it will be something you have to make reservations for ahead of your visit like how the Brewmasters Club was.

Maybe but it didn't sound like that. Also I think if that is the case it will take away from the atmosphere that they seem to say they wanted. I mean they were talking about your own stien and all. What is the point of that if I have to reserve a time to use it? I got the impression that they wanted it to be as close to a local bear hall or pup as possible in a park setting.

Is the Kaffe that little bar area at the very back of the Festhaus in the corner that was closed? I loved going there and getting sweet tea vodka. And then they stopped selling sweet tea vodkas.

Yes

I can see them keeping the cell phone chargers there for the simple fact that they already bought them, and where else would they put them.

I am not saying that they should get rid of them actually I see them as a perk as it may lure people in and get them buying stuff. I just hoperfect the park the park has a plan in place before it opens for how to manage possible problems with having them.

My Best bet would be Sam Adams, Heinekin, and Budwiser which is similiar to the rest of the areas of the park that sell brew. I wish they would add some variety to their selections like Coors or reds apple ale or something.

I would hope they had a selection of beers that are A. Better B. Not stuff you can get in the rest of the park.

I thought from how it was presented that they would have a selection of smaller breweries. Williamsburg actually has a number of local breweries that are quite good it would be nice to see a local flare added. But contracts with the big companies might make that hard.

How about so-called "craft" brews actually owned by InBev? Goose Island, Widmer, and such? I'd walk in for that.

Actually I'd walk in anyway. It took me years to realize that the Festhaus Kaffe area was even back there, and I'm happy just to know it's open in some form. A nice place to sit a spell for a mid-afternoon break, when the outside air is hot and the Festhaus crowd is light(-ish).

Yeah I was hoping that from the announcement Festhaus Kaffe's Brewer Lounge section would focus on smaller breweries, not Budweiser/Heineken/Coors/etc like above user mentioned..

I already know Grogan's in Ireland has 1 variety of Alewerks beer (only by the bottle unless anyone has seen it on draft in the park) which is a smaller Williamsburg brewery. Hopefully they expand their Alewerks lineup in the Brewers Lounge and definitely add in something from the Richmond area like Hardywood, Legend, Strangeways, as far as local breweries go.

Guinness would be a good addition especially with all the merchandise in Ireland
