I've heard that safety positions are being cut. Hope it is not true, but if it is, that may not be a smart area to make cuts.

I have no problems with them cutting positions, especially if they are positions where they can outsource and save money. Even though SEAS is turning around, they still have to work on improving their expenditures and look to save. There's a lot of debt there, and despite this growth it doesn't mean that they are in the clear.

Take this for a grain of salt, but I have talked to a few people via a group on facebook who claim to know some people in the park who worked alongside those that were let go. From what I could gather, some of these people worked alongside each other. I then assume they did the same role which somewhat explains to adjustments. When a division isn't responsible for itself financially under a parent company (SEAS under Busch), they tend to have a lot of heavy weight and duplicate job roles. Its a good sign they only eliminated 125 jobs this year, but I worry that we're running out of duplicate jobs. I hope they don't spread themselves too thin and compromise the guest experience. Especially given that they're in a rebuilding period. Again, grain of salt, these are my assumptions for the reason they eliminated more positions on the back of a stellar report.

Edit: Lance at Screamscape is reporting it quite a few positions are upper management Directors, VPs, etc. Said that this could be in preparation for a possible sale of the company.

"Safety Positions" is their First Aid department. It's not directly involved in ride operations.

Most park operations departments handle their safety and training in house, however there are some outside companies that do occasional audits on the park like IROC and Ellis. I'm pretty sure Water Country USA already has Ellis, but BGW has a fleshed out enough operations department and good enough culture of training and safety to where an outside company like IROC is not needed to get involved.

No idea what company he worked for but last year I had a nice talk with a gentleman who had audited BGW for safety earlier that day. Just a chance meeting and talk as I shared a train seat with him and his family. He takes them with him on most audits does the audit one day goes over the result the next morncand th.gen enjoys the park with the family in the afternoon. It was very interesting to hear him talk about the general business but nothing specific to his work with the park.
