I (surprisingly) didn’t see a real thread for CT 2018, and we just got some really important information from a very reliable source. We have been told “that single-day CT ticket prices are likely to increase significantly.”

That data point combined with what Dan told us yesterday—that they don’t expect to have a capacity problem this year, despite including CT in the new Membership Program—I think we may see some real and interesting changes at the event.

Maybe they'll have Krampus at the gates to steal bad children. That would be one way to address capacity.

Or if BG's budget can't get Krampus, Belsnickel could deem the children impish or admirable and do the same process. This would be a great move because it would also take BG back to its' roots to the Old Country, deep roots in German history.

I know it's very early, but i wish they would post something about ticket prices. That's going to decide if we double our current monthly rate to switch to a membership. I wonder if single day tickets will be the same as main season?

Would the lack of capacity issue be from adding new features or driving people away with higher prices i wonder?

Just throwing this in there, this year Members get a Sneak Peek day to Christmas Town before it opens, a nice new perk, I assume it will be like Howl-o-Scream's sneak peek day?

From the park's recent press release:

BGW Marketing Wrote:Christmas Town™- Nov. 17 – Jan. 1: holiday traditions come to life in splendid beauty at Busch Gardens Christmas Town now in its 10th season. To celebrate the milestone, Christmas Town will add an additional weekend to celebrate the season and increase its Christmas light count to 10 million, making this the largest light display of any holiday event in North America, and add a themed train experience for families to enjoy.

This is a huge, long-overdue addition. Not only will it eat a ton of guests, I'm also pretty sure people are going to love it. Bonus points if the park sells hot chocolate right near/in all of the stations.

I think the idea of incorporating the train is a wonderful idea! it will really help with the crowds also (IMO) the train is a great way to see the park so i'm sure with all the decorations it will be great. Hopefully they are smart and follow Zachary's idea, that would be a great way to make money and help the park goers keep warm.

YAY YAY YAY. I really like they are adding a CT themed train experience this year. That is gonna be a draw to the park too. Hmmm maybe instead of coming up in late July, I should maybe switch and come up and do CT. BGW is my number 1 when it comes to CT event. There is just a warmer, and good holiday spirit with the event. I can't wait to hear more about the themed train experience. So I was just thinking, doesn't BGW have a Rudolph & friends meet and greet? So could it be possible that the themed train experience be themed to "Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer" story. I think that would be a nice idea to bring in the families , who doesn't like Rudolph. And yes BGW use Zachary's idea about selling hot chocolate at each station, and maybe even have a special type of hot chocolate based on the hamlet the train station is.

I noticed that this year Carowinds is doing "Winterfest". I don't see it having the same success as CT, I mean just look at the name difference. More BG isn't afraid to have shows that are religious based and to say Merry Christmas, that's huge for a lot of people. I will say that with Carowinds having the Peanuts characters is really cool for Christmas but don't see them using the same message as I see them keeping it generic. http://www.carowinds.com/play/winterfest

Maybe this in and of itself will be the root of its success. There are plenty of people out there that don't go to CT because of the religious aspect. Winter fest may be a huge success with this crowd. I guess we'll find out.

Carowinds had Winterfest last year. We went, and it was a great event. In fact, we also attended CT, SFA's Holiday in the Park, and Hershey's Candy Lane. Carowinds' event was one of my favorites.

Kings Dominion will be adding Winterfest this year, which has been successful elsewhere in the chain. It will be interesting how it does and what affect (if any) there will be on CT. Regardless, I hope it is as much fun as Carowinds' event.

The two events seem to be going for different audiences from what has been related regarding rides.  KD will be aiming for those who still want rides while CT aims for a pure Xmas experience with shows and atmosphere over rides.
