I saw Origins on June 18 the 6:30 showing. For some reason I always see things in Kings Dominion shows that copy or closely compares to what Busch Gardens has done in the past which is quite dissapointing. The preshow was quite funny though. In the showing I saw I saw one ackward part where all the lights cut off in the middle of the show with no real explanation. Compared to Kings Dominion standards its a very good show and I enjoyed it.

I saw the 7:30 show on June 17th, wanted to check it out after reading the previous post about the technical glitches during the preview show. There were no technical glitches at all on the show I watched, only goof was that one of the female performers looks like she lost balance during one of the landings on the center platform and fell back down to the trampoline and then tried to play it off with an "I meant to do that" landing pose... but overall I really liked the show.

I don't plan on writing a full review, but I have to say that I'm not a big fan of Origins. It has got to be the... weirdest show I've ever seen at Kings Dominion, with downright bizarre characters and borderline suggestive choreography. The show's pacing is dismal and spends more time on gags and theatrics than on the acrobatics that it promises.

Sadly, I also found the actual stunts themselves rather mediocre as well. I don't mean to criticize the cast here, as the athletes are clearly talented and I could never do what they do. But the staging of the acts are repetitive and poorly choreographed in my opinion, and some of the show's most daring stunts seem to be glossed over. I really wish the show allowed the cast to perform to their full potential.

There's also a live drummer, which is cool, but I think the drummer is underused. His (or her?) presence perched 20 feet in the area at the back of the stage isn't even noticeable until some lights shine on him halfway through the show.

I will say, I enjoy the preshow. It is long, about seven minutes in length, but the two "monkey" characters are entertaining and kept the audience laughing through their very interactive skits. Some viewers may definitely find it tedious, but I thought the preshow (and its hilarious monkeys) was the best part of the show.

Overall, however, I can't see myself rewatching this show much like I did Cirque Imagine. I'm curious about what others think, though.

I completely and totally disagree Joe. We thoroughly enjoyed this show from start to finish. My daughter liked it more than Imagine. I also felt that the pacing of the show was flawless, which completely contradicts what you experienced. The swinging hoop girl put on a display of strength that I have never seen before from a female. It was the last show of the 4Th of July to an almost full theater. I was impressed to say the least.

Where? Behind the rabbit?

Huh. Maybe I'll have to give it another shot. I felt there were too many pauses or jokes/dances between each stunt. But I'm glad others enjoy it.
