According to a Backstage.com casting call for this show, rehearsals begin in late May so maybe some rumors might get started from that.

I like that the set is mostly the same but the raking stage is reduced; I hope "Britmania" has better designed projections and costumes than what "London Rocks" has spewed out on us for three seasons.

What was wrong with the LR costumes?

I always sort of thought the costumes and projections were two of LR's best assets. The projections were fantastic (colorful, dramatic, and a bit whimsical) themselves, and the only real issue I had with them was that they were often blurry.

Similarly, the costumes were always good (except for the "Under the Sea" costumes from LR 1.0); they were creative but usually understated, which was surprising for a show as in-your-face as LR. I especially liked the "camera" costumes that lasted through all three of the show's seasons.

To be honest, I actually hope the costumes and projections are two of the few similarities Britmania bears to London Rocks.

Apparently that's their goal. I wouldn't be surprised if they have some type of backup track to use sparingly or otherwise. Even most shows on Broadway will have the first 10 seconds or so pre-recorded before the full orchestra or band kicks in. Gloria also uses this method and so did Rejoice. They do that because first impressions are so crucial that they don't want to have any room to mess up.

Maybe it's because I love these songs, but I did hope they would go all the way with them with the surreal creativity the songs inspire ("Yellow Submarine" anyone?). I just thought they played it too safe with the costumes and projections (but I will say that the first season was better on the crazy, surreal end).

I think the important question we should be asking is, like LR, the park plans on pumping the room full of LSD.

That might actually make interested in sitting through a theme park show.

Also, they shouldn't stop there. I'd look forward to an 80s themed Gordon Gekko revue where they pump the room full of supply-side economics, Phil Collins, money and cocaine.
