Mark Pauls has been promoted to Corporate Vice President of Park Operations and moved to the company office in Orlando. His first day on the job was November 28th and he officially took over on Dec 1.

The move to Orlando is interesting. I was told he would remain stationed in Williamsburg.

Rule 1. Never believe anything BGW tells you.
Rule 2. If you think they are being genuine, refer to rule 1.

I just saw him in the park over the weekend. He said he got a promotion but still works from here.

I can't remember if I heard about it from corporate or BGW specifically. Either way, he would not be the first corporate position to operate out of Williamsburg.

Perhaps they just want to have eyes and ears in Williamsburg as a bonus. It's always hard to tell which park (if any) takes priority in the Busch Gardens division of SWP&E. They are always sending mixed messages whereas SeaWorld's priorities seem to have always been Orlando>San Diego> and poor, forgotten San Antonio.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg is the greatest of all Busch Gardens parks. Don't question me.

I don't believe that's a statement that can be questioned.

Tampa has better animals. SWO has penguins and a great New Years Eve event. They both have amazing animal interactions. Also: Discovery Cove puts all the rest to shame.

I wouldn't think it would be a contest for you, Nicole. Myself? I don't know if I would prefer any day at Discovery Cove or "the best day ever" at BGW or BGT.

Anyway, perhaps a few executives spread across the chain will help to benefit all parks. Also, Mark Pauls has mirrored so many park presidents. He always gave the impression that he is quite knowledgeable, professional, and to me he seems more than qualified for the title.

Discovery Cove is basically it's own league of theme park... There really isn't anything like it.

I wonder if Volcano Bay is about to beat Discovery Cove at the exclusive access game, though?

I've never thought of them as competition for Discovery Cove. I only thought of Aquatica. I mean look at their color scheme... It's essentially an Aquatica park with a volcano plopped in the middle.

I do believe the TapuTapu™ wearable might pose a threat to all of SeaWorld's water parks if SeaWorld can't make a quick come-back. Lines are a big issue for all high-volume parks. I still think Discovery Cove is safe from that issue unless Universal severely limits capacity like Discovery Cove (doubtful). Compared to Discovery Cove, Volcano Bay is still not that exclusive.

Anyway, is there any way we could start a separate thread for this?

That is my fault. I agree. There are threads for Volcano Bay and Discovery Cove.
