Its sad to say but Geauga lakes counter-part is closing for good.
Quote:In an announcement posted on Cedar Fair Entertainment's website site — wildwaterfun.com — on Friday (Aug. 19), the Sandusky-based company said Wildwater Kingdom water park in Aurora will not reopen after the 2016 season.

Its final day of operation will be Sept. 5.

"Cedar Fair has been working cooperatively with both Bainbridge Township and the city of Aurora to redevelop the entire property into what will best benefit the surrounding communities," the website announcement stated.

"After examining its long-range plans, Cedar Fair has determined that the time is right to begin this transition, and will continue to work together with community leadership in the positive future development of the property.

"Cedar Fair would like to thank the residents of Northeast Ohio for supporting Wildwater Kingdom each summer."

The patrons had to see it coming. They haven't added anything new since a kiddie area in 2010. I feel bad for the locals that use that park for retreat. I can't imagine losing a park that I frequent.

Where? Behind the rabbit?

The locals already lost a park when CF pulled the plug on Geauga Lake (two if you count losing Sea World). This was just the final nail in the coffin.

Knowing someone who grew up in that area I have to say from what I have heard this isno surprise. There have been rumors of it for at least the last few years. Also the coment about working with the local community to redevelop the parks seems to be total pr unless something has changed. There us a great deal of local angerdirected at CF for the conditionthT they left GL in when they pulled out. The eyesore that is GLs ruins have caused developers to turn down plans in the past.

The writing was in the wall with this one. I think every season it remained open was a surprise to everyone. It is sad to finally see the book close on Geauga Lake and SeaWorld Ohio.

I am curious was Cedar Fair plans to do with the property. My understanding is that they have had little success in selling the amusement park's property over the years.
