I did not measure. We placed the cups next to one of the steins and the cup was only slightly taller. The cups appear wider at the top while the steins appear wider at the bottom. Maybe next time we can get one of the steins and then a plastic cup to pour into. Our main reason for the plastic cup is for walking around the park.

That's awesome. Been a stein member since last year, and never knew that was an option.

I just picked up my stein, and they gave me a free pair of sunglasses.  They said they would be giving out free things to stein owners from time to time.

Also.

I noticed a label on the bottom of my stein with my cubby number and a letter: ###A. So, they may have found a way to differentiate between the two steins in each cubby.

And.

I tried the Black Cherry Cider and enjoyed it.

Wow, so sick! I went into the Brauhaus today and opted to not get my Stein first-fill at the very last second, really wish I would have gotten a fill now for the shades.

I noticed when we went that some people appeared to be getting magnets and then others were not. We were not given whatever item it was that others were getting and we did get our stein filled while this was going on. I probably could have gone up and asked what it was but decided not to. I say this because getting the free item may be a random thing or it may be that they just forgot to give me whatever it was that day. I suspect it is probably that they just forgot to give me the item when I ordered that morning.

Either way. It is cool that they are doing this. Now, if we could just get them to build a passmember lounge like they have in SeaWorld Orlando.

Thanks, Alf.  Glad to see somebody else sees my point of view.  I paid double what I paid last year and I guess I get half the space, too!  Yes, they can't figure out how to mark them.  Last year there was no glaze on the bottom of the stein and that is where they marked them.  The new stein for this year is completely glazed and grease pencil, magic marker and label tape have all failed.

I'm kinda confused here...my stein had a label maker number marked on the bottom, including whether it was A or B (aka it had a 117A label on the button of it). Did yours not? If not, I'd recommend asking for one.

Is there anywhere to find out the beers on the marquee? I have a couple of aunts coming from NM that want to go to a brewery, and I want to go to BG, so I'm hoping I can tempt them with some local beers in the Brauhaus.

People post pictures of the menu here fairly often. I haven't seen them anywhere else, however.

There are most likely MANY more local craft choices in the beir room than if you visited any one brewery on its own. Or even three for that matter.

Where? Behind the rabbit?

Here is yesterday's (April 7th's) tap list/marquee:

I got my first stein fill of the year, tried the Bonnie & Clyde Double IPA from Tall Tales Brewing in Maryland. Was very disappointed when my bartender came back and said "Here you go. We only filled the stein halfway because the alcohol content is a little over 9%" but couldn't complain at all as I got the first fill for free, some Brauhaus shades, and a Brauhaus magnet!! If I was told the stein fill would only have been half way when I ordered, I would have chosen one of the other 30 beers, but I really still can't complain.

EDIT: Shades/Magnet!

So far I have received the magnet and the sunglasses. They are placed in the cubby so if you didn't get it...I'd ask. Don't expect too much with the sunglasses.
As far as beer selection goes....I have seen them change while I've been sitting there. If they run out they will substitute another beer in and change the sign. I have some favorites and it seems like every time I go one or two won't be available. Just the "luck of the draw".
As for beer above 9% if you check the signboard it should have an asterisk or something indicating it is only going to be a half fill. Usually they actually pour it into a plastic cup before transferring it into your stein. It is a Virginia ABC thing and they have no control. By the picture above it doesn't look like they have 9% beers when the picture was taken. They didn't have any Monday either.

Was not aware that was ABC law. However, if you look at the picture above and look underneath IPAs there is one above 9%, the Tall Tales Bonnie & Clyde Double IPA. All it says (with green/yellow chalk) is "10 oz. $9.99".

That's for the non-stein-members (as stein members pay $5 and not $9.99). It just doesn't say anything anywhere about stein members getting a half fill leading to my confusion about not getting a proper fill. No complaints, just wish it was posted somewhere.

Talked to some of the workers at the Brauhaus on Sunday (4/16). The "extra" steins they hope to sell have been delayed. Originally they were going to sell them "sometime around the middle of April". Now they are saying maybe the first of June. Apparently the supplier hasn't made the steins yet.

I boldly asked, and was told they were anticipating a total of about 600 steins available; they will be doubled in the cubbies, thus the A at the end of the number. Upon receiving my stein, they quoted some items of interest: high ABV is a half fill, no pass member discount on refills, occasional freebie item will be handed out, must present photo ID to get your stein. Polite and efficient, and hopefully they are able to tell all members of these things more regularly so there isn't confusion on any of the points going forward. The staff was inviting overall, but I have to admit that one is decidedly less friendly than the rest, at least in the opinions of my wife and I. And we saw several groups eating their full plate meals in the Brauhaus, contrary to the sign out front saying it's verboten. We were yelled at last year for snacking in popcorn, but no one said anything to these tables, on either of two days, even while walking right past the offending table. Oh well...
