I have a suggestion! Dump the current music in Old Va for the return of straight up Bluegrass. Dump the current music on the midway for anything else (carnival, symphony, early 1900's piano, Anything!). Safari Village stuff is ok(could be better). Planet snoopy stuff is fine for the kids but, they need more than 9 songs for the people that spend more than 1 hour in there. (This includes the employees. I always feel bad for them listening to the same few songs over and over) I Wish they could just tie into pandora or something for this area, with a 8-10 year old song selection library.

Honestly, I don't really mind the music in Old Virginia. It's pretty fitting to the area. I still think Safari Village needs more safari-like sounds (djembe drums, maybe mixed in with jungle noises), too. And Mazakman, for what it's worth, there are more than nine songs in Planet Snoopy but those are the only ones I can remember right now. There are certainly more.

Also, I noticed something in Candy Apple Grove. Although what they now play doesn't fit by any means, it seems like they have gotten rid of the "today's top 20" pop music and instead play more contemporary beats, particularly 80's rock. 80's rock still does not belong in an early 1900's midway, but it does add the slightest bit more charm than modern pop music did. I mean, Bon Jovi has some more memorable beats than, say, Chris Brown. I'll give KD a nod for that change, but they still don't earn any points for it.

I spend alot of time in planet snoopy and i'm sure you're right about there being more than 9 songs. (average of 1/2 hour of music) Spend 3 hours in there and you will certainly come out of there with 'brain burn' as I do! The kids dont care, they're riding rides. We are the ones that have to listen to it while waiting, And I'd rather have a much broader assortment. I understand that music in a park like this is a tough thing to please everybody on, but a more simplistic theme choice would appeal to a majority of people in my opinion. (there is no mood to be set by 'Bon Jovi' that I can relate to. If you know what I mean Smiling )

They used to play that sort of thing in Safari Village back in the 80s and early 90s. I remember a lot of drumming.

I think that they should have an all-instrumental in-park soundtrack. I like Mazakman's ideas.

BTW, thanks for the list of current music, Joe!

No, sort of tribal-ish "Darkest Africa" mystery music. The kind of thing that you would hear in an old movie or cartoon that has a jungle setting.

I remember what you're talking about jonquil. It was pretty much just a large assortment of bongo drums and subtle monkey noises that played all throughout the lion country safari days.

I was actually thinking they could take the traditional sounds like old Congo movie drums and spin them with a modern twist.

No, you are right that always ends badly.

As you were

As someone who was actually alive in the 80s, I can say with absolute confidence that there is nothing remotely "charming" about any of the Top 40 crap in that list. Furthermore, it is all pop, not rock.

Thanks Luke! Yes, I use SoundHound. It is annoying though because it has trouble picking up some of the drum sounds in Safari Village and the band organ music in Candy Apple Grove.

I have been working on this for a very long time now and it's finally ready to share. Here is a video of the full playlist of International Street music edited together to sound just like at the park. If you have the chance, I highly recommend taking a moment to listen to it. There is some gorgeous music in there. Enjoy!
