I'll interject my two cents. I found the food there to be okay. It is a theme park and not a sit down eating establishment. There's only so much you can do for a cafeteria style eatery. The thing I think gets me is the prices. They know you have to eat so the prices are up there almost on par with say Olive Garden or the like. But there, you get it from a kitchen semi-made to order. At BGW I picked it out of a heat lamp lineup. Who knows how long it's been there. They toss some warm sauce on it to heat it up a bit. Two small meals and a drink is like $30. That's where the disconnect is for me. Don't get me wrong, I know I'm a captive audience. I really enjoyed the food from Grogans however.

At least it's not as ridiculous as Kings Dominion's prices. $15 for a burger, fries, and drink. I like pretty much all of the food served at Busch Gardens and the prices aren't bad compared to CF & SF Parks. Just my two cents Smiling

I've never found the food there to be all that bad.  When I do eat there I just usually get the pasta with the meat sauce or the Chicken Parmesan, both with cheese and I sprinkle some peppers on it.  This lets me save some room for Gelato.  For some reason I seem to time it where I get a fresh plate, so it's not been sitting around, which I'm sure helps.  Have I had better, yes, but I've also had worse from sit down Italian restaurants outside the park.  I also like Trappers but the last time I ate there during HOS I had the brisket platter and I found the meat VERY salty, almost to the point where I didn't want it.  So I'll take a little over cooked pasta over that.  That being said at least my wife doesn't cook the pasta there as she cooks the snot of it at home and that drives me nuts being I'm a quarter Italian.

I do like the grapefruit gelato. It is really the only thing I want to eat in San Marco.

The head chef in Ristorante told me that the consistency of the pasta is judged by the stickiness. They need to maximize the longevity of the sauce on pasta under a heat lamp. To demonstrate, he literally threw a noodle against the wall, to see if it would stick.

That said, I am glad to hear that some other people like this place. I don't think it is any better or worse than any other BGW eatery in terms of quality control.

The main problem is the freshness of the food by means of when you receive it. That's the only reason as to why Das Festhaus doesn't sell Schnitzel. It can't sit under a heat lamp for more than two minutes.

Busch Gardens is just more ambitious than most theme parks in the food category, but even they realize their limits. It's difficult if not impossible to get sit-down restaurant quality with food lines. That's why I am very curious to see if this market style will make a noticeable improvement to food quality.

As long as they add paninis to the menu. The ones the park served during CT were great.

I just don't eat pasta there in the summer because it is too hot outside. I can't eat hot pasta when it's 90 out, and then walk around in the heat some more. Yuck. If we do stop there to eat, I get the chicken cutlet salad. I do like that.
I did like the pesto sandwich that the kiosk served at Christmastown, so I hope that one becomes part of the new menu.
