I could be wrong as this happened in 2010, but BGW filed permits for a 260 foot drop tower, yet in the end Mach Tower is only 246 feet tall. Not sure as to why that change took place though that wasn't a decision done by the park.

I don't think we know how much straight power Kingsmill actually has. I tend to believe that BGW has decided not to push back on their complaints and demands, because they determined it was not important enough to fight. I'm not sure we have ever seen a case where the park decided that they needed to proceed with their plans, regardless of local opinion.

Essentially, what I am saying is I don't think we have anyway to tell who would win in a real contest of wills. I would not be surprised if BGW could in the end do anything that they deemed important enough.

I can't recall specifically, but I think that Busch might have offered to do griffin in blue preemptively. See my last post regarding this. Busch makes the county tons of money, kingsmill does not.

I'm sure the park gets plenty of noise complaints from the neighbors and the golfers on the course next door. Most of the major rides except Mach and Pesto have some sort of noise dampening to make the rides quieter.

Even then I'm hoping this new coaster will mean the beginning of the park going toe to toe with the neighbors and not taking anymore shit from them. Although the park may have to build tunnels like Gold Strike around the ride worst case scenario.

If that were true, we'd probably have bigger, louder rides than the current selection.

They can just put sand in the B&M track, in fact, i think that all of BGW's B&M coasters do have sand in them.

I feel like Kingsmill has had quite a bit less sway over the park's decisions ever since the two became unaffiliated. Of course, this is just pure conjecture on my part.

It also could be the park management trying to please everyone at once and failing just like Howl O Scream severed head incident.

They do, Alpie originally opened without sand in it's supports and had them filled the year after it opened.

Honestly if BGW really wanted something and James City County denied their request, BGW could petition to be annexed into York like Kings Island threated to do a few years back. On the other hand, I don't think BGW wants to piss off it's neighbors considering a large chunk of them are most likely pass holders that go a lot.

My opinion would be they just don't care to spend the money one the legal battle that would ensue if the pushed back. Because something like that would certainly mean court dates, legal fees, hiring experts, likely developing multiple plans which means needing more planners, less time working on the park.

I'm fine with them not fighting it and slowly just pushing the limits more and more as to what they can do.
