The entrance to the Time Shaft was located just to the right of the 'splashdown' for the HR. There were 2 holes in the mountain, 1 entrance tube, 1 exit.(quite claustrophobic if I might add) Smurf Mountain was located in the TOP of the mountain above the HR. The tracks did not interact. I got some good looks inside the mountain with quite a few ride evacuations where the lights were on.

The Time Shaft entrance was where the 1st launch for Volcano currently is. I have a pic. I will upload it later.

Well this isn't my memory but, I thought you guys might like it. As teenagers in the 80's my dad and my Uncle worked there. My dad was in tickets and was a four star general. ( On the back) My uncle worked at Hungry Hippo, then games, to end up working at Shockwave. I on the other hand didn't start going to KD till 2001 I think. ( I went to BG first) I think I might have some more stuff I could dig out at my grandparents house. ( Not sure if the photo works)

I was 99% sure the volcano launch went down the corridor of the haunted river final drop. Just saw some pictures of the Time shaft entrance still intact. Just sitting there waiting for a re-install Smiling (Check out the pictures in the comments) https://www.facebook.com/229513350522757...=1&theater

Oh my... I sort of got chills looking at that abandoned space for the ride. Between that and the queue for Land of Dooz/Smurfs(?) above the Volcano queue, I wish Paramount had done a better job of removing so many blatant links to the former rides (well, even as a defender of Volcano, I wish they'd done a better job with the ride period, but I won't get into that Tongue ...).

As much as I like Volcano, it still makes me sad to think of all the possibilities of great things they could have done had Paramount not removed a heavily-themed boat ride, a dark ride, and one of the park's most legendary flats- all combined in a beautiful mountain structure. Obviously the flume and dark train ride couldn't return, but as Mazakman said- could a ride potentially be brought back to the Time Shaft's spot? As far as I can tell, there's nothing really occupying this spot right now except for the end of a concrete mountain.

I guess the launch carves out some of the Time Shaft entrance. It's a very hard angle to look sometimes! That's nice to know though.

Also there is a still a small area behind the waterfall where the actual ride was at. You wouldn't be looking at anything pretty back there and the ride would be sorta disclosed from any viewings of the pathway, but I think it's doable.

I don't think any of the Time Shaft's entry and exit tunnels have been touched by Volcano. The entrance (and exit) went down at an incline. The ride itself was underground, or at least below the ground level of the entire mountain and the other attractions. It felt like you were walking into an underground cave every time you went in.

Actually, the tunnel rose gradually. Probably no more than 3 feet from the entrance to the ride chamber/cave (over 40-50 yards). That part of the mountain is built into a hillside. next time you visit the park, go into the FOF plaza and look through the fence between the former Mt.Kilimanjaro structure and the ride exit. I appeared to me that the ground dropped 20 feet from the FOF plaza to the ground next to the main mountain structure.

The Time-Shaft entrance/exit tunnels would have been to the right of the main launch track for Volcano. it is hard to tell if the spot where the actual ride sat is available or if the Volcano track supports stand there now. I think the actual ride sat beyond where the current vertical coaster supports are located.

^Correct^! Upon entering, the tunnels did go down a little bit for the first 50 feet or so to a valley. There were cutouts in the wall exposing the exit tunnel in this area and you could see the people walking by exiting the ride. There were also many puddles in this small valley due to Hunted River splashdown making its way over the wooden fence trickling down into the tunnel. Afterwards, the tunnel went up and up as MWHINVA said(and no more center wall cutouts). once close enough to the ride to begin hearing the music, there were 3 or 4 steps up to a wall on the left that you could see over if you were 5' or taller. You could only see the ride for about 10' of the line because it went down in a circle around the outside of the ride until coming to a doorway, then you were there Smiling
